Hi,
I am sailing Costa Atlantica to the Caribbean on Nov. 7, 2010. I was wondering how dressy one must be for the two formal diner nights. On previous Carnival cruses, I saw women in everthing from gowns to jeans. Can you wear less dressy clothes and not be turned away or is Costa strict about the dress code?

Thanks for your advice! Paula

Welcome to Cruise Chat. You will find the experience on Costa much like your experience on Carnival. With the exception that Costa is Italian themed and has special Italian activities including a Toga party. Dress should be similar to Carnival.

Hi Paula9250, welcome to Cruise-Chat! Congratulations on your up-coming cruise! I sure hope you enjoy Costa as much as we do. I absolutely love sailing with them. I love the Italian influence, food, and crew. The sail aways are fun, they play Dean Martin's "That's Amore". They have great activities on board, the ships are beautiful and spotless. We've sailed on their older ships, the Daphne and Carla C, and their newer ones, the Mediterranea and Magica. I'm looking forward to sailing them again in the near future, it's so much fun.

I enjoy dressing up for the formal nights, but you will see most everything from slacks to full length gowns. I didn't see jeans on the cruises that we were on, but I doubt they'd say much, as long as they looked nice. I did see shorts on casual nights, but usually on men. It sort of spoils the ambience of the dining rooms as the waiters dress each evening with different themes, and the dining rooms are so beauitfully set. They will have parades (some including patrons), shows, and various entertainment during the dinner seatings. It's so much fun. Be sure to dress on toga night, it's the last night of your cruise. Some people go all out. I always have to wear my clothes under the sheet because I NEVER can get the dang thing tied correctly http://bestsmileys.com/lol/21.gif They do have a class on how to tie them, but even though they make it look easy, I just can't get it.

Hope you have a marvelous time!
