I have received the following from Oceania Cruises:
Dear Media Colleagues,
Attached you will find a copy of the communication being sent to Guests and Travel Agents regarding the Insignia’s May 21st sailing from Barcelona to Lisbon. As many of you are aware, there has been on ongoing diplomatic dispute between the governments of Libya and the United States. While we have been in constant contact with our agents and operators in the region, we have been unable to gain the necessary assurances that U.S. guests would be granted clearance to enter Libya.
The most prudent course of action at this juncture is for us to proceed with a revised itinerary that now includes calls in Rome, Sorrento, Amalfi and Taormina in lieu of Tripoli and Benghazi. Guests currently booked on this sailing may cancel without penalty until February 21st.
We have initiated contact with all Travel Agents and National Account Partners today via email and fax and will be sending this communication via registered mail to all Travel Agents early next week. Internally, our reservations system and OceaniaCruises.com are in the process of being updated with the new itineraries and shore excursions.
Regatta and Nautica are scheduled to sail similar itineraries in November and we are currently finalizing revised itineraries for those voyages and will be communicating the changes to Guests and Travel Agents in the near future.
Should you have any questions regarding the changes or the contents of the attached communication, please do not hesitate to contact me.
