Question Disney Fantasy 4,000 guests?
I followed a link to the Disney Fantasy on weather.com. I guess it is coming out soon. It said it was 128,000 tons and 4000 passengers. Does this sound crowded to you? I'm used to seeing 140,000 tons and 3600 guests I thought. The tons I think is a measure of internal space so unless Disney is applying some of it's magic this will be a crowded ship.

Any thoughts? Or is something wrong with my logic or numbers

No CruiseDad, that sounds pretty crowded. That would give it a passenger-to-space ratio of 32 assuming the 4000 capacity is double occupancy and not maximum capacity. By contrast, your Carnival ship would have a p/s ratio of 38.89; and Ruby Princess would be 36.69. Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess would be a very roomy 43.45.

That brings it up to a very spacious 51.2

I do notice though on the two new ships, the square footage of cabins on inside and some ocean views and verandahs has been cut down 10-15 square feet from what it was on the first two ships Magic and Wonder. I guess they wanted to squeeze more cabins in on the new ships. Sort of reminds me of how Lee Iacocca shaved a couple inches off bumpers to get more cars loaded on trains saving Chrysler big dollars.

Unusal analogy but it fits. My Son and Daughter-in-law are already planning a Disney cruise with us and our grandson. I think they are thinking of 2015. They have always planned way ahead. So I have been looking at Disney ships. Grandson will be 5 years old then and my daughter will very likely be off the Carnival Ships by then, so why not. I loved Disney when I was younger. My Wife and I took a belated honey moon to Disney World in 74. (I was in the Navy when we wed and honey mooned at the Utica Zoo for 1 day on a weekend pass)

I just got off the Dream at the end of April and it really didn't feel overly crowded too me. And you have to remember that this ship had only been sailing for three months so it's still a really new ship and folks are definitly sailing her. Probably were we noticed the most crowds were at the family beach and the family pool areas. We don't have kids so these areas didn't affect our cruise experience. We were able to ride the Aqua Duck back to back twice with only maybe a 5min. wait two seperate times. As far as the cabins are concerned..we had a balcony on deck 9 and though I thought it might have felt a bit smaller than the Wonder that we had just got off of at Thanksgiving, hubby said he didn't notice it.

PS
Though the adult pool is way different than the other ships, we were also able to enjoy a soak here too without feeling like sardines.

We rebooked onboard to sail the Fantasy!
