Hamburg, GERMANY, August 2004 – Just when you thought the 5-Star-Plus cruise ship Europa couldn’t get any better, it did! Between August 31 and September 14, 2004, the ship will dock at Blohm and Voss in Hamburg, Germany for refurbishment that will include a fitness space that will triple in size.
In the future, fitness enthusiasts on the Europa will find refuge in a state-of-the-art fitness center expanded over three levels – all with breathtaking views of the ocean. Top-of-the-line equipment for optimal cardiovascular training and various other exercise options will be available, and a personal trainer will be on hand to attend to the wishes and personal needs of the guests.
Guests will also be welcomed, starting September 14, to an equally spectacular view of the ocean in the new Sansibar, located on the stern of the Europa. A casual, welcoming atmosphere pervades this exciting new bar that has been designed in cooperation with the creators of the Sansibar on the island of Sylt. Tapas and finger food are offered along with the refreshing sea breeze on the bar terrace, which also features performances by live artists and DJs.
Directly below the new Sansibar, in the Lido Café, an extensive culinary selection is available: an open kitchen with grill stations offers individualized meals in a relaxed atmosphere. The Lido Café serves as an alternative to the Europa Restaurant and Europa’s two specialty restaurants, Oriental and Venezia.
Europa is also catering to little guests, with two children’s areas – for little and older children. This concept was created with the aid of child educators. Children can lounge in hammocks lazily, or gather at tables for communal crafts projects, storytelling or playing with experienced caretakers.
The first journey after the ship leaves the dock from Hamburg is to Norway, Iceland, Greenland, and ultimately to Montreal, where Indian Summer promises foliage in its most colorful fall splendor. With resident Michelin Three-Star Chef Jean-Claude Bourgueil, and wine expert Rene Lambert. (From September 14 to October 3, 2004).
