Cruise Baby....
ships like NCL and Carnival are for the casual cruiser.
Holland is ni the next tier of what is callsd Premium lines.
Even on short cruises the majority of passengers are on board to have an up-scale experience. Jeans and shorts are fine till 6 pm when it is polite and good manners to join those who want an evening of class. You will feel very much out of place if you choose to buck the standard.
In the luxury Lines Radisson,Crystal, the dress code is quite specific... Men in jackets and slacks , Ladies in Dresses after 6 pm... men need to ad a tie for dinner. But at this level it is also theater too... and 99% of the guests are on board for the chance to participate in a grand evenings.
You proably picked HAL because it had a aire of class to it. You need to also........ Pick the ship that lets you do your thing... and accept others doing their thing too. Otherwise you might be at a table with a group doing shooters and pizza wearing cutoffs. What apeals to you.
