Please read my review before booking on this cruise line...not a "luxury" experience...very sad because I had been looking forward to it for a long time...some problems;;;;lack of balcony or open window in stateroom is a deal breaker for us,,,did know of this ,but really claustrophobic...then the small as to be non functioning for a tall, an engine fire and no power overnite...that sort of says it all....Must admit food and service WAS excellent....just a warning to newbies like I was....

Sorry your cruise wasn't as expected. An engine fire and loss of power certainly is an unexpected event, and wouldn't be a analogy that this would happen on every cruise with SeaDream. Sorry the cabin didn't meet your expectations either. Everyone's idea of the perfect cruise is different. I'm sure there were many on your same cruise where the cabins weren't an issue at all. This is why it's important to do research and speak with an experienced cruise agent that can assist you on specifics of ships, such as the the things that were issues with you. They can be a great help in providing information to help you decide which ship and cruise line is the best fit for you. I hope your next cruise will be a better experience.

Cruise moderator...posted review yesterday, but dont see it yet today,,does it take this long?
Also, I did research ship, but it was MY problem with balcony,etc...just didnt think it would be such a deal breaker....knew it was a small ship, but was a first time on one and now I know...
Re/Cruise agent, have used them in past, but not one close to home and found I usually can handle it better myself...then I have only ME to blame, hahaha.
Will try another luxury line, with slightly bigger ships,,like Seabourne or Silversea...
Again, it was not SeaDream s fault, but MY expectations...if they could magically add a balcony and larger bathroom, would go again in a minute......

Yesterday was a holiday in the U.S. so the people who look at and approve reviews were not working. Also, it isn't immediate since reviews have to be formatted and put in HTML prior to publishing. Give it a couple days.

Welcome back alexandra cruiser I am so sorry to hear that the cruise wasn't that good. I am very glad to hear that the food and service were great, though. An engine fire is indeed unexpected. Did you have to miss a port due to the fire? I hope to read your review, soon, too. Did you have a favorite port? Can't wait to see what cruise you select next

alexandra cruiser 07-13-2010 11:13 AM

To answer, yes, review now posted...Favorite port was Hvar,Croatia...very scenic, close beach, old town with great cafes and churches to explore...No, didnt miss any ports due to fire, just a nite of no power...Think SeaDream would have offered a discount of future bookings to make up for problems, but still wouldnt go on it again due to staterooms...Thinking of going to Norway and looking into Azamara, or others for next year...any suggestions?Like top of line ships and no more than 12 days on board,,so its limited ,I Know...

Can't help you with top of the line, the best line I've been on has been Princess. I've heard great things about Regent, Cunard, Seaborn, and Crystal. When I booked our Celebrity cruise, the agent sent me a lot of literature on Azamara, too. But, alas, I've not sailed them. One day, I hope

You would have to move up to Suites on Azamara or Oceania, or Luxury cruise lines to get more square footage. The SeaDream Yacht Club cabins are 195 sq ft. Normal balcony cabins on Azamara or Oceania are 173 sq ft with a 43 sq ft balcony. Azamara and Oceania's ships are similar being they were bought from the bankrupt Renaissance Cruise Line. Oceania will have a new ship coming out in 2011 called Marina where the regular cabins will be larger. Azamara and Oceania are considered Deluxe cruise lines. Silversea, Regent, and Crystal are considered luxury and have larger staterooms.
