I have heard several different things about the Bahamas and I was wondering if it was really worth going. What is your guys' opinion?

If you've not been, it's worth going once. Being from Ft. Lauderdale originally, we spent a lot of weekends in the Bahamas. I've always enjoyed it. Freeport has gone downhill according to posts, but there are nice beaches there. Nassau has some nice beaches and the Atlantis in Paradise Island (across the bridge)should be visited at least once. Grand Turk just built a new terminal and the island is very clean, snorkeling was good. Andros, Walker's Cay, Great Harbour Cay, Eleuthera, and the most all of the private islands are great! The cruises over there are usually very affordable and it's a great break for a long weekend. I'm sure others may disagree, but if it's a cruise, it can't be bad. Best wishes!

My opinion now...

Nassau is ok ONCE! Everyone should see Atlantis in their lifetime. It's an interesting place. There are great private tours to take. All the cabbies and tour guides are licensed. The snorkeling and beaches are fair at best. It's mostly jewlelry stores, t-shirt shops, and BANKS!!!

I have to agree, once you have been there you have done that. The only time I return to the bahamas is when a ship I want to cruise on happens to stop there. I would never plan a cruise there. a bit over rated for my book. Give me cozumel every cruise and I am happy.

Also PA I am pretty sure my kids know you. They are paramedics...pretty much know all the medical personel in the area.
