Just wondering if anyone here has went to Rum Point while in Grand Cayman? We have just a few days to go before our cruise and this is looking like a very nice spot. We want to snorkel and enjoy a nice area. My question is, how far is it from the cruise pier in Georgetown and is it worth the ride? Thanks for any info.

I've never been there but have heard it's a Caribbean paradise, shimmering shallow turqoise waters, and, as I've been told, some of the best snorkeling on the island. There is a bar and restaurant there, hammocks and shade trees. Here's a link to a site that has some pictures and more info. Rum PointWe were very dissappointed on our last cruise that was supposed to stop in Grand Cayman last time when the ship could not port there due to bad weather. Ask someone off the dock where you can take the ferry that goes to Rum Point. If the ferry is still running it's
supposed to be a much shorter trip. Otherwise you'll have to go all the way around the island to the other side, a bit longer but still might well be worth the trip. There was a ferry that picked you up close by the cruise docks at a hotel, not sure which one it is. Maybe another poster will reply about the ferry service. Most people go to 7 mile beach. We went to 7 mile on our first trip there and were dissapointed because there were too many people and too many hotels. I'm a bit spoiled by beaches since I live in Florida. To most people 7 mile beach is great but I've seen so much better. Hope to go to Rum Point on our next Western Caribbean Cruise if it stops in Grand Cayman! Have fun and write a post about your experience there if you go.

Update: On another thread a poster said they were booking with Native Way Tours for their reef, ray and rum tour in Grand Cayman. It will take you to the boat from the pier, then out to Stingray city, then to a reef close by and then to Rum Point where you can snorkle, shop and eat. They call ahead and have the food waiting on you to pick up when you arrive at Rum Point. That sounds like Heaven! Sorry I don't have a phone number for you, maybe you could try a search engine to find them or a travel agency?
