Excursion Questions - Ocho Rios and Grand Cayman

Hi everyone.

I'm in the process of figuring out what I want to do in my ports of call on my cruise. So far, I'm thinking about Paradise Beach in Cozumel, and the zip line, and maybe the roller coaster in Labadee, along with the usual beach day there.

In Ocho Rios, I was looking at this excursion, along with a Dunn's River Falls add on that they can do. Has anyone does this through Shoretrips in Ocho Rios?

As far as Grand Cayman, I was thinking about a Stingray City trip. I did this last time, but had problems with my camcorder, so didn't get any video of it, but did get still photos, which I was able to edit in to a home video I showed to my family.

Another idea I have for Grand Cayman is this horseback riding excursion, but seems it would be similar to the Jamaica one.

My questions being, has anyone done either of the horseback riding trips in Grand Cayman or Jamaica, and if so, which one would be recommended?

Just to clarify, I would be doing either Stingray City or the horseback riding excursion in Grand Cayman, and not both. Sorry if I didn't make that clear before.

Can't help with the horseback riding. I like my bones in one piece I had horses when I was younger, been stepped on, kicked, bucked off, rolled on, etc. I've had my fun.

I highly recommend Dunns River Falls, though. It's great, the water is cold, but feels great while you're climbing. You know what to expect at Stingray City, so why not enjoy some different sites in Grand Cayman? Have you been to 7 mile beach? How about Rum Point? Maybe do the horseback ride and then go to 7 mile or shopping.

I like to check out a new place or excursion when I revisit an island, but that's me. The only thing I do over and over is Trunk Bay and Champagne Reef, my 2 favorites, but even then not everytime I visit.

In Ocho Rios we did the White River tubing, great family fun. Guides took care of the entire family.

You will see a review by S Olson in 2006 for the horseback riding trip--that's us. It still ranks as one of the best excursions we every did. My daughter is an experiences horsewoman, and I am actually a bit afraid and it was great for all of us. We did make a stop (they have tack specifically for going in the water) but no venders approached us, although we could go to them which is not typical in Jamaica. It was super.

As far as attire, before you went in the water, did you wear long pants? When I ride here in the states I wear long pants. I don't have a problem wearing my swim trunks underneath; just wondering if I should wear long pants or shorts.

Long pants would probably be better, that way you won't get any chaffing from the saddle.
