We have rented a car, van, or jeep on every visit to St Maarten. After you exit the ship, just to the right of the pier at the end of the parking lot are the rental agencies. All of the majors and many independents are there, and they will barter with you, and the prices are very reasonable. Don't worry about checking and reserving ahead...they will be there and have access to many, and wide variety of vehicles.
