The passport copies are always the best choice. BMV is Bureau of Motor Vehicles, I think.

We just returned on the 29th from Jamaica, Caymans and Cozumel. We were advised to take ship card and photo ID with us to return to ship. All we ever had to show in any of the ports was our ship card to get access into the area of the pier in Jamaica and the tender areas in Caymans and Cozumel. However, that might have definitely been the exception to the rule on the days were were in those ports. Better safe than sorry.
