I will be traveling in late April and have booked The Dolphin Swim Experence in Tortola and scuba diving in St. Thomas. I was wondering if anyone has done either of these and your opinions, likes/dislikes with either.
I have done a dolphin swim in Cozumel but will give you a word anyway. Just know what you are getting for your money--"encounter" could mean as little as standing on a platform while they swim by, possibly touching one. "swim" can mean you are in the water at the same time they are, or it can me that you actually swim with the dolphin and they do tricks with you. Ask questions--the cruise line should be able to give you a more detailed description if you talk to someone in the excursions department. I do not hear good things about "encounters" with words like "rip off" being applied by people who have done it. I did a "royal swim" booked through an on-line source (shoretrips.com) and we got to be in a much much smaller group than the ship's people, and have much more contact with the animals. Done right this is the experience of a lifetime. Hope you have an option to choose similar to our experience, these are amazing animals.

Again I apologize for our friend--something must be bugging him.
You noticed too? What was the line from Star Trek, Final Frontier, "I can't help but notice your pain..." I feel for him whatever it is.
Spoheat,
Thanks for offering some help to Jude. I know there must be stacks of posts on the subject, just don't know where to find them.
What is your guys' problem? Should I tell him to go tweice cause it is so great when it really isnt? You just stand there as dolphins swim around, seriously.
I think, perhaps, that when one expresses an opinion on a topic, particularly one that is negative, maybe a little more information that supports the negative assertion would be more helpful..
For example, what can you tell me about Port Arthur? "Oh, man, it sucks royally," is a pretty strong statement, but as a reader, I don't know why Port Arthur sucks royally.
