I know I make no sense, because I eat meat, and yes, I've picked out many a juicy looking lobster from the tank, but turtles just seem odd to me. I wasn't under the impression it was a Greenpeace saving the sea turtles place, but I didn't think they actually had it on the menu for lunch.
I am with you about the turtle meat. I'll eat snails, alligator, sweetbreads, and rabbit too, but turtle just doesn't sound good to me. Perhaps one of those things I'd need to try after a couple martinis!

Yeah see, I haven't had any of those things. I used to have pet rabbits, so that's out of the question, and umm...I dunno. I eat meat and poultry and seafood, but there's just something about turtles and alligators and ostrich, etc. that freaks me out. But hey, anything is possible after a few martinis.
Now we descend into the truly gross edibles! I was stationed at Subic Bay in the 70's and have tried balut. This after copious amounts of San Miguel and White Castle.
Sweetbreads are the thymus gland from cattle. Sliced thin and lightly breaded and sauteed, they are wonderful. Celebrity used to feature them as an appetizer. Not sure if they still do.
