Can anyone give us any tips for here we were going to do the land and sea tour through the ship but it has been withdrawn and the only other thing is a day at Sandals but it seems rather expensive so any ideas would be gratefully received
many thanks

Antigua is one of the most beautiful of the caribbean islands. Hire a taxi to take you around. They will know the best places to go, including Shirley Heights (I think I have the name right). It is one of the most spectacular caribbean views ever. Bring lots of film. There is also a very amazing view at a location with "Devil" in the name. Apart from that, you can look into booking a charter sail from antigua around the island. lots of private bookings available. Have fun!

Look for Scott Taylor's post about Pineapple Beach. It was an all-inclusive, he said they really enjoyed the day there.

Julie, Pinapple was great. It was about 1/2 the price of Sandals. Not too crowded. Very laid back staff and great drinks. (They lost money on us). We shared a cab ride with another couple who were going to a beach near us so the cab fare was cheaper. It's hard to remember, but I think it was $32 for my wife and I, could have been $16, not too sure. The day pass was about $40/day pp. Call them in advace to make a reservation, Look up Occidental Grand Pinapple Beach Resort on the internet, you're sure to find them. Take a towel from the ship, they'll ask for a deposit at the hotel if you don't bring your own. The cab driver was back on time as he promised. Pay the driver on the way back so you know they'll show up. If they don't it's not a problem, since this is a resort, plenty of cabs. Here is a page with some pics of our day at the Pinapple last November. The weather was overcast and it was still beautiful. Be sure to take the hike up the trail to the gazebo for some nice views and pictures... TURN UP YOUR SPEAKERS FOR SOME NICE CARIBBEAN MUSIC TO GET YOU IN THE MOOD!... PINAPPLE BEACH PICS PAGE Also.... Our good friend who grew up in Antigua said that Turners Beach was very very nice. We didn't go there but told some ship mates about it. They said it was fantastic, great beach and great food at the restaurant. If you go this route ask the cab driver to take you on a tour first and wind down at Turners Beach for a swim and lunch.
