Begginer Scuba

My family is Cruising the Eastern Carribean on the Valor Feb 27th. My son would like to learn to scuba dive in St.Thomas or St.Maarten. Has anyone tried this excursion on either of these Islands? Carnival offers excursions for begginer scuba lessons on both Islands, we are wondering if one would be better than the other. Any information you could give us would be appreciated.

Either location would be fine for a beginners scuba lesson. I think it depends more on the other things you want to do at each port. Select the port in which the scuba lessons will be least likely to impact your opportunity for the other "must-do's" on your list.

I would urge you to enroll your son into a local dive certification program to make sure he is ready for the experience. Even if he doesn't have time to get certified before the cruise, he will gain valuable knowledge that will make the experience much safer for him.
