Carnival Cruise to Progresso and Cozumel

We are going to Progreso in June, and I don't really know what is nice to see or do. Any suggestions?

Cozumel I think we want to do the Chankanaab park, but definately want to go to Carlos and Charlies to celebrate a birthday with a group. Anyone has any input on these two places?

We did a tour to Mayan ruins from Progreso, and really enjoyed it. The guide was Mayan himself and very knowledgeable about Mayan history and culture.

Well, if you are going to Progresso, make sure you take a tour if you dont wanna see what the real Mexico is like. Most of the town is dirty and stinky except for the beach area, where they have very cheap massages, its like 20 bucks for 30 minutes on the beach, they also have fabulous seafood restaurants. if youre more into seeing historical places, then i suggest you definitely better take a tour. make sure to ask at the desk if there is an opportunity to visit progresso itself, as they have very cheap souvenirs in the downtown market, you will pay at least 2 or 3 times less than you would in Cozumel for instance. If you dont feel like spending 70-80 bucks per person for a mayan ruin or merida city tour, the best and cheapest way to do it would be just to take the shuttle bus which takes you to the same downton marketplace from the pier, and the local company offers you way cheaper tours around.
