The airport at St. Maarten is right on the beach. It's so amazing how close you can be to the planes taking off and landing. You can actually get blown over! There is a bar you can sit at and watch, and several hotels. We stayed at Maho one year and took a bus over to the airport with all our luggage to check in. Then we walked back to Maho and sat on the beach with a few cold ones waiting to see our plane land to take us home. Then we walked back over to the airport.
