Depends on other interests and the time you have in port. Tulum is a shorter distance - it's the only set of ruins right on the Caribbean, which makes for a neat setting, and they often include other activities with the Tulum tour, such as snorkeling, or visiting Xel-Ha (water park), etc. Chichen Itza is most of the day, and a long bus ride away, but is bigger and more impressive. Both tend to be crowded, perhaps Tulum more so. Hope that helps!

We flew to Cancun last November and went to Tallum, which is wonderful makes for good photo opts and chichinitza, if you go to chichinitza be sure to hire a guide, I think we paid $15.00 each but it was well worth it. The info these people have is astounding and it made the trip absolutely fabulous.

Which port will you be in? We are going on the Voyager and we port in Cozumel. Tulum is an 8 hour excursion. The other one(chitchen? can't remember how to spell it) was the shorter one;only 3 hours. If there's absolutely nothing else that you want to see, and you're really interested in the history, do the tulum. That one is supposed to be much better.
