We did the 4 x 4 and drove to the beach at the end of Cozumel (can't remember the name), but there is a lighthouse at the beach if you see that on the excursion description. I saw the jeeps, but the 4 x 4s allowed you to enjoy the drive and see everything close up. We truly enjoyed it. The drive was lots of fun and we ended up at a gorgeous beach with lots of hammocks for those of us that just wanted to rest, or you could snorkel, which is part of the excursion. Those that wanted to snorkel, were taken out by a small boat, and I heard that there was lots to see. We booked the excursion through RCCL. I highly recommend that if you're considering an excursion that involves driving on your own, that you book through the ship. I would not trust anyone else that's not approved by the cruise line because having auto insurance coverage is extremely important. If for any reason the company does not have coverage and you are involved in an accident, you will go to jail until damages are fully paid.
