This will be our first cruise and we're all very excited. My question is, if we book the beach escape thru RC (which goes to Playa Mia) are we obligated to go directed to that beach resort? Or is this question just ridicious? I think that Mr. Sancho sounds better but I don't want to risk missing our boat. And my final question is, has anyone gone on the canopy tour? It sounds really fun yet quite scary and I just wanted to get 2nd opinions.

It depends on the tour. Most ship excursions have a defined start and end date, meaning if you've booked the beach getaway, then you'll likely be meeting up somewhere at a specific time to get your transportation there.

There are some excursions billed 'at your leisure' which means you can choose when to go, but transportation for such things may not be included.

If you've booked it, you will pay whether you go or not, so make sure you actually want it. Take some time to research what you really want to do. As to missing the ship, I wouldn't let that make your decision. Just ensure you leave yourself plenty of lead and return time before you are due to set sail. Also make sure you are aware of ship's time vs. local time differences.

Hi nhu,

In did the western caribbean many times with my family and we learned about cruise excursions: on board, they charge you DOUBLE! ...make your own research on the internet and book through a site, it is a lot cheaper...like cozumelwatersports.com, we took their sail and snorkel combo and it was a blast!!!Enjoy ur Cruise!

Another suggestion, when you get to the port, look into renting a jeep or car, its very easy to get around Cozumel and that way you can check out the different beaches. There is only one road that circles around Cozumel..so you can sight see and swim at your own pace.

Vehicles rent for around $100 or so just make sure you have it checked back in at least an hour before the ship is scheduled to depart..that will leave you plenty of time to board and not miss the ship.
