Hi. Has anyone rented a jeep and just gone off on your own to explore the island? What sights were worth seeing? How far to the blowholes? Any problems at all???

Thanks,

Renee

Renee,
Exploring Grand Cayman by jeep can be fun, but just remember to drive on the left! If you head west of Georgetown you can visit Seven Mile Beach (I'm a beach person so its my favorite place) the Cayman Turtle Farm and Hell. You would travel east from Georgetown to get to the Blowholes. They are situated at the Breakers - about halfway between Boddentown and the East End. If you go in that direction you can travel to the north shore of the island - up to Rum Point.

Thanks Nancy.

Do you know how long it takes to drive to Rum Point?

As close as I can recall, Rum Point is about an hour drive from Seven Mile Beach.

My opinion its not worth renting a car anywhere in the carribean....they all drive like maniac's plus oposite side of the road

There is a lot of cool stuff to right when you get off the boat

I have to agree with you. Unless you are used to driving on the left hand side of the road, and are experienced in horrendous traffic, either take a tour or use public transportation.

Just getting to seven mile beach s an ordeal in a taxi. I couldn't imagine driving in that chaos.

If it is your first visit to Grand Cayman, enjoy the town and seven mile beach.

Just my opinion,

Tom
