We are first time cruisers, 2 40/50 somethings, 11yr boy, 2 18 yr girl friends. We're doing RC Mariner's Eastern C on June 11. RC stops in St Thomas but offers an excursion to ST John. ARe there independent ways to get there-and get back on time? Also, any other family fun shore tips for ST Thomas/ST Martaan would be great! We'd prefer smaller crowds. Thanks!
We often take the ferry to St. Johns, the last time we took it it was $6.00/pp. Then we take a taxi to Trunk Bay and do a beach snorkel from there. They have lockers, showers, a couple of shops, and a snack bar there. I can't remember the ferry schedule, it runs either every hour or every 45 minutes over to St. Johns. We always do snorkel trips, we've taken a couple of catamaran's from St. Thomas as well. St. Maarten we have taken a couple of snorkel trips as well. There is a beach close to where the ship docks. St. Thomas is great for shopping, jewelry is especially reasonable. Have a great time!!

My family just completed this excursion when we sailed the Adventure of the Seas. Others did this on their own and paid $9pp cab to the ferry each way, 6PP ferry ride each way, I dont remember what they paid each way on St. Johns to the beach. I suggest you use the ships excursion.
You can take a water taxi right there at the port in St Maarten for $5/pp for an all day pass it will take you across the bay to downtown of which there is shopping and a very nice big beach. They have jet skis and other activities.Little Divi is right around the corner and is great for the little ones and snorkeling.Have fun!
