Hi
My family and I are cruising on the Carnival Triumph next week and one of the ports of call is Grand Turk. I can't see to find any reviews on cruis-char or port reviews on this island. Anbody have anything to say about that or have recommendations on how best to spend time there? We are 4 adults with 2 children aged 6 and 2 years.
Thanks
There is a nice beach right where you dock and a shopping area there as well. We did a really great sail/snorkel excursion there that we booked through the ship. The first stop was for the coral and the second was for the fish. They did offer an island tour, but we love snorkeling. It's a very clean island and not overly developed. Not sure what your interests are, but it is really good snorkeling there.
As Penny says - the island is small and not developed. With the two little ones, you may want to take advantage of the beach right by the pier. There is a Margaritaville restaurant/bar/shop in the cruise center that has a pool - but it was very busy when we were there with the beach being almost empty. The ship will probably have some kind of island exploration excursion, and there will be cabs available at the cruise center for travels on your own. This is the internet address to the Grand Turk Cruise Center website http://www.grandturkcc.com/
Thanks. Do either of you recall the exact loaction of the pier? It would be nice to look up on the map of the island where we will be and hence, what can be accessed.
On the website Susan gave you, it will give you the location of the pier. It's on the southwest end of the island. There is only one terminal and that just opened a couple of years ago.
We are back already, hate those short cruises, but Grand Turk is a lovely island. Friendly people and we enjoyed Margaritaville very much. Thanks for letting us know that it was a place to visit and not stay on board ship.
