Well i can partially help you here. I know the ship docks ( no tendering) in either Nassau or Freeport. I Nassau you can walk into town. Freeport (and this is where my "partially" kicks in) used to be a long taxi drive from the dock to any form of stores. But mind you that was 20 years ago. They may have built something closer to the port by now. When we went, you got off the ship, and you had to pay a taxi driver a large fee to drop you off in the tourist trap shopping area. We are not big fans of Freeport. Now that may have changed, so you will need someone else with more up to date information.

mistylady- We were just in Freeport and Nassau aboard the NCL Sky in early February. The roundtrip taxi fare in Freeport will run $10/pp. The taxi will run you to the Lucayan Market place. They will fully load the taxi(Usually a mini bus). It is a 10 minute drive. Prices are comparable to those of Nassau.

In Nassau You can easily walk the Downtown Bay St. shopping area. Paradise Island and Atlantis will run you $4/pp each way.
Hopes this answers your question!!!

Welcome to cruise-chat, visit us often!!!Especially when you are ashore and between cruises!!!

In Nassau my husband and I walked almost everywhere. Unless you're wanting to go to Paradise Island I would think you could walk.

in nassau you can take the city bus go get around. do a bit of search and you will find out where to catch it and where it takes you. it is like a dollar a trip..worth the money. the buses are really just very large vans. great way to see nassau
