Cozumel

We're thinking about renting a 4x4 to travel around the island. Cruise ship offers one with beach time. Any thoughts about renting separate from ship?

We will be in Cozumel on Feb. 28 and are doing a jeep adventure/snorkel tour through Shoretrips.com. Still a guide, through a company that has insurance and all, but hopefully a smaller group than the ship's offering. If you search the web for jeep tours a few nice websites come up: get references. I am not sure how much "off road" you can do if you are not with a local guide.

We did the jeep tour through Carnival last August & was dissappointed. May have changed by now but you never know. We have rented vehicles before & you are charged with gas & any damages. Driving in Cozumel is almost like driving blind so be careful.

I agree about driving or riding in cozumel, do it at your own risk. The first time we were there I remember telling my sister "I dont want to die in this taxi" It was scary. But we still take a taxi to chanacanob. But still scary. They make up the traffic laws when they need one. I dont think there are really meny traffic laws there anyway.
