cabs in curacao

We are wanting to go to playa porto mari which is apparently on the west side of the island. Has anyone used a cab recently in Curacao and what did it cost? Any reviews of playa porto? We can do a shore excursion there and am wondering if we don't just get a cab and go on our own.

We didn't take a cab there. The first 2 times, we did excursions. The next two times we walked or took the ferry across the canal. In most cases, it's less expensive to get a cab and go on your own. The only place it wasn't for us was St. Lucia. The cab ride was per person and one way. The excursion would have been less expensive. Wish I knew about Curacao's cabs, hope someone else does.

Hi Penny, any suggestions for someone that has not been to this island before? We do like touring around and water related sports.

I love snorkeling, so a catamaran sail/snorkel is always great. The water was very clear, they took us to a sunken tug and there were turtles and a lot of fish. I also enjoyed the Curacao factory tour, you were able to see some of the island, and they had samples at the end of the tour. Curacao is a liquor, and I think it tastes good. There's plenty of shops right near where you port, and they all compete for the tourist dollar, so if you see something you want note the price and the store and try a few other shops. You'll probably find it for a better price. Usually, the closer it gets to the time the ship is going to depart, the lower the prices go. We did all of our tours through the ship. I'm sure there are better prices, but I couldn't tell you the name of a vendor, sorry.
