Anybody stay here before?? Good, bad?

It comes with free breakfast and happy hour - I hope those are good.

I plan on staying here two nights before my cruise, and the price just dropped to $160 from around $250.

for all I know if you are talking of Embassy Suites in Puerto Rico in San Juan thats on isla verde and is one of the best hotels on PR

Do you know how far of a drive EL Yunque is from the hotel? We plan on renting a car and doing it on our own (good idea?).

Also, do you know of any cheap car rentals near the Embassy Suites (within walking distance)?

Well most of the car rentals you can find them on the airport,

You will stay there the day before or after your cruise??

Isla verde is a little far from el yunque, I mean is not like old san juan, but you should not have any trouble,
the hotel guest relations will be more than helpfull with the info.

We will be staying for two days before the cruise. We plan to rent a car for one of the days, and drive to el yunque for a self-guided tour.

I saw that the airport has plenty of car rentals, but I heard that there was a local car rental place right around the corner that is cheaper. Apparently, it is not a well-known company (like "Jose's Car Rental" or something haha). Also, if I use that place, I don't need to worry about getting a cab back to the hotel after I drop the car off - I can just walk.
