Never been to Curacao before - looks like the town is worth visiting for half a day, and we're probably leaning towards a beach/snorkel afternoon. Does anyone have a snorkeling preference at one of the beaches?

It's been so long since I've been to Curacao that I can't remember any specific beach that stood out.

We stopped in Curacao spring of 09 (our newest favorite island) on RCI and loved the beautifully colored buildings as you enter the port. We did a morning snorkel of the sunken tug (or boat of some kind). We took a tour from the pier and got a flavor of the island as we were bused to a marina where we got our boat. We did see alot of the coast line and then did the snorkel...The waters were a little rough but with our life jackets felt safe enough. We saw lots of many different species of fish and there was a diver in the water that offered to take our underwater cameras into the boat to get some great pictures. We still had time to come back to the ship, eat, and go back out to walk around the area..Lots to see in town.
Hope you enjoy Curacao as much as we did.

I don't know of any beach snorkeling areas in Curacao that are decent. We did the same snorkel that peter l did. We also took a tour of the island that went to the Curacao plant. The taste test was great! We were there one time that it was raining, so we just walked around the town. They have a ferry that takes you from the dock area to the town area, just across the canal. There are some nice little restaurants that line the canal where you can enjoy a cool refreshing drink. It is a very colorful and friendly island.

I'm really looking forward to this stop now. We've looked at all the beaches and the one at Cas Abao looks to be very nice and has snorkeling areas. I'll have to check the prices in American dollars but it can't be much, so we'll just need transportation to and from there...looks to be 15 to 20 miles.
