I have not, but we did try the Passion Island Excursion. The beach was very clean with soft white sand and the food was great and the beverages abundant. Plenty of lounge chairs as well.
We have been to Playa Mia many times. It was previously called Playa Sol. It has always impressed us as far as cleanliness goes - spotless bathrooms. The beach is well cared for and we've always been able to find beach chairs. Of course, the ones in prime locations get snapped up fast. Crowding depends - if will ebb and flow as the party boats stop by for an hour.
The place offers several packages going from basic entry up to all-inclusive including drinks, lunch, and special water toys. Frankly the basic package always seems a better choice. Food in the restaurant is okay, nothing memorable. I recall bottles of beer being $2. Cokes were a dollar. We have not been there since the name change so prices have probably changed. Mixed drinks were not of very good quality. For instance if you wanted a pina colada they poured non-alcoholic pre-mix into a cup and then dumped a shot of rum over it.
But overall it is a pleasant place. They have a fresh water pool that is shallow in all areas - popular with the kids. There is also a market place you walk through to get to the beach with lots of souvenir shops. At the gate there is/was a little zoo that was interesting.

Has anyone done the Playa Mia Beach Resort Excursion? Is it nice/clean there? Is it crowded? Were you able to get beach chairs? Hows the food?
We went when it was Playa Sol. Loved it. We did not book it through the ship but took a taxi we got all inclusive for the whole day at $12 per adult and $6 per child. We were there an hour before the party boat from our ship got there and were able to stay an hour after they left and got back before they did, Cab ride was cheap too.Much better than the 80 per person carnival charged for that party boat.
Almost did the Playa Mia excursion the last trip there, but opted for Passion Island instead. Heard Playa Mia was really nice, can't be any worse than Passion Island was. In fairness, it was 1 month after that hurricane in 12/05. That hurricane had completely nailed that island, so it all looked like a war zone. Have fun!
Sorry that happened at Passion Island, WE LOVED IT but it was before the Hurricane. It was absolutely gorgeous and the food was awesome. We want to do Playa Mia next month when we go.

My husband and I did Playa Del Mia in Feb of 05 and really enjoyed it. We took a taxi right off of the boat, shared it with another couple, and was there way before the "tour" boats got there. Beach is clean, activities to participate in or watch, food was okay. We had enough time to drink "a few too many" and then went to Carlos and Charlies for "another few". Would definitely do it again. DO IT ON YOUR OWN.
I agree, we did the party boat to Playa Del Sol and it was costly. We also made Carlos and Charlies our last stop before heading back to the ship..We had a great time with our ship activities group that were at C & C's as well..
