Shopping- St Maarten or St Thomas

We will be visiting both these ports in March and are wondering which port we should best set aside for a shopping trip and which wodul be better for a beach/snorkellign trip ?

The snorkeling in St. Thomas is much better than St. Maarten. The shopping in both ports is good, St. Thomas has better prices for jewelry. Have a wonderful cruise!!

I agree, St.Thomas has the better shopping i think though,the beaches are nicer there also. Trunk Bay on St.Johns(a short watertaxi ride away) is a must and on St. Thomas Meagans Bay is a must, the ride up and over the island to get to Meagans Bay is unforgatable.

We were in both St. Thomas and St. Martin in Dec.06-it seemed as if the shopkeepers were more willing to wheel and deal in St. Martin and more anxious to please! Passengers who went over to Marigot on the French side of St. Martin said prices were very high but the quality of merchandise was top shelf.
