Freeport Lucaya

My wife and I are going on our first cruise on the Norwegian Sky on September 29. We are beach people. I'm not hearing much good about Freeport/Lucaya. SHould we just stay on the boat?

Having lived on Grand Bahama let me say there is plenty to do! Head over to Port Lucaya and visit the Underwater Explorers Society (UNEXSO) and the shops, Go to the International Bazaar in Downtown Freeport- Head over to Deadman's Reef ( Try Harry's American Bar!) There is a Stripped pole sticking out of the ground there which I believe is the site of the East Pole ( I was into my cups at the time)!
Visit the Garden of the Groves! Go to Taino Beach! Head over to Dundee Bay to visit the Xanadu Beach Hotel-one of the late Howard Hughes final residences! There are also some fantastic Golf Courses! There is plenty to do on Grand Bahama! Go forth and Enjoy!

Hi revlefty, welcome to Cruise-Chat. Freeport used to be my favorite island in the Bahamas. It's been years since I've been there, though. I'm sure Lucaya is still nice, it was beautiful when I was last there. Glad to know that Billybuzzy lived there, he knows for sure where to go. If I ever get back, I'm going to have to try Harry's American Bar, sounds like my kind of place. Best wishes for a fantastic cruise and once again, welcome aboard!

Lucaya beach is very nice and the shopping in Freeport is much more relaxing than in Naussa.That is what I found.Hope you have a great trip with no hurricanes.
