does anyone know if the Bahamas have higher end jewerely stores as does Bermuda does at the wharf? Looking for a watch and getting mixed messages from people who have been there. Some say no stores like those in Bermuda are in the Bahamas while others say they do exist. If anyone knows of any I would appreciate the locations so that I do not waste what little time I have on the island.

Well, you have John Bull on Bay Street which is adjacent to the piers. What kind of watch?

John Bull on Bay Street in Nassau is an established and highly reliable merchant. Purchases made there will result in great prices for high quality items - they can be relied upon for follow up service should you need it!

Nassau most certainly has some name jewelry stores. The typical ones found in all the Caribbean islands are Columbian Emeralds International and Diamond's International. I bought a Citizen Eco watch at Columbian Emeralds International in Nassau in 2001. I haven't had one bit of problem with it. Since it's Eco, you never have to buy a battery.

The most important thing is to have a good idea of what you want to buy, and how much you can buy it for at home.

With so many discount stores in the U.S., and so many discounts available particularly in this economy, it's always a good idea to have an idea of price before you buy something overseas.
