Sting Ray Booking and Beach Experience

Hi There

I am thinking about booking a Stingray City Tour in December while we cruise on the Constellation.

Could you please advise wether it would be better to book via the cruise or directly at one of the charter companies via Internet?

I am a bit afraid if I book via the cruise that maybe there are hundreds of people joining the tour and I don't like to be in big crowds in the water.

Any suggestions? Do all companies use the same spot for the experience?

Do we have to book the Beach Combo in advance to get a sunbed or isn't that necessary and we can only show up at the beach and get one? Is Seven Mile Beach the best place to spent time? What about the Beach Club Colony? Is it worth a visit?

Just discovered that there are companies that offer Waverunner-Trips to the Stingrays.

Does anyone have experience with that? Doesn't that scare the stingrays away with the noise? Would it be possible to take a camera on one of these things or will it get wet?

Hi Silke,
I don't know if they have Wal-Marts or K-Marts in Germany, however, you can purchase underwater disposable cameras for about $8/US. That way you don't have to worry about getting them wet. I personally like 7 mile beach, but many posts have stated that it's getting too crowded and Rum Point Beach is better. The waverunner tour sounds like fun and the stingrays are probably so used to the noise that they know it means food. Many people book their tours through the internet and most of them have had wonderful experiences for less. We've snorkled Stingray City and a couple of wrecks that are near to where you tender. They have all been fun. We went to 7 mile beach and enjoyed the water and a couple of daquiris. I personally enjoyed it, but others may not. The next time we're there we'll try Rum Point Beach, then I'll know for sure if it's better. Hope this helps.

Have heard about Rum Point Beach already and probably we are trying to get there that day.
Depends on the overall situation of 20000+ people on land this day ;-)

Hi Cat,

Rum point is great!!! However it is a little bit of a ride to get there. I was a quiet little spot with a nice little bar and grill. haven't been in a few years but the palm trees, hamocks and beautiful water are just about near perfect.
