Tulum and Xel Ha

My husband and I are interested in taking this excursion when in Cozumel. Is it worth going? Does anyone know hoe much time would be devoted to just travel? Would appreciate any suggestions.

There will probably be a couple hours of travel each direction, but you can watch the Yucatan countryside from the bus. You will have to take a tender from Cozumel to the mainland for this tour, which is about a 3-mile trip (I recommend taking precautions against motion sickness for the tender!) Tulum is marvelous, however, even when crowded with other tourists, just to be in such an ancient site, especially one in a beautiful setting (it's the only set of Mayan ruins right on the Caribbean shoreline). Haven't been to Xel-Ha, but I hear good things about it. Personally, I'd opt for it.

Tulum is wonderful, Xel Ha is gorgeous. The water is crystal clear, the snorkeling is awesome. When we took the excursion, it was pretty much the entire day and the ship provided lunch at Xel Ha. The ruins are amazing, but the snorkeling was the best. Of course, I think I'm part fish. There were some shops at Xel Ha. I personally think it's a worthwhile tour. Enjoy your cruise!

If you get to do Xel-ha, make sure you do the tube trip down the little river, I can't remember the actual name of it. It is awesome! There is a little bus that takes you to the top and then there are tubes at the top. It is awesome, you come down through the mangroves!!! It was my husbands first snorkeling experience and now I can't get him to quit!!

Tulum was great. It was a long bus ride to get there and back though. I have some pictures here if you want a peek at the place.
