Car Rental In San Juan

Anyone got any tips or recommendations for renting a car in San Juan, Puerto Rico? We (2 people) will need it for one day to travel to El Yunque Rain Forest.

I know the airport has all the regular car rental companies, but my friend rented from a small place down the road from the Embassy Suites (where we will be staying). He can't remember the name, but said he got a good deal.

Anything I should be aware of while driving? I hope the hotel can direct us to the forest.

Well there are a few crazy people driving here,
mostly during morning in rush hour beside that, I will recomend the rental car on the airport the prices here are mostly the same price onm each car rental, maybe 5 dolars less in some cases but is not worth it since you are not familiar with the island. Also please be carefull on el yunque last week some people got lost on it, becasue they did not follow the guide or the rules stay on always with your tour guide.

thanks Cas - maybe we will just stick with the name brands

we were planning on doing el yunque by ourselves...our friends did it last year and said it was very easy and safe...just follow the trails

is this a terrible idea?
