Cozumel's Piers and ferryboat effciency

I'll be in Cozumel on July 1st aboard the Carnival Inspiration. Will it be a nightmare trying to go ashore? I've read some people waited in line from 8am to 11am to get off via a ferry. Any recent info on Piers reopening would also be appreciated.

Think there is only one pier operating as of now, but I think it is mainly for RCCL. We tendered in and it was very well organized and did not take very long.

We were there in March and didn't have any problem tendering. Just allow time to get off the ship and time to get back on. if you're doing a ship tour, you'll get priority when your tour leaves.

The International Pier is open for 1 ship a day and the Punta Langosta Pier will be ready to accept 1 ship a day starting in June. But, Puerta Maya, the Carnival Cruise Pier will not be operational until August 2007.

Just return from the cruise last week.
It took us 30 min to tender at Cozumel.

We just came back from Wester carib on the Miracle and had to tender in Cozumel. It took at least 30 minutes to get the tender full enough to go to shore. We tendered in I belive it was called Puerto Maya?? A disney ship also tendered, but a small RCCL ship did dock. I was told that the dock belonged to RCCL.

Well I went to Cozumel and the tenders are fabulous. They hold 300 people and the lower deck is air conditioned and seating is like an airliner. It has a small refreshment bar with beer and soft drinks. My family and friends never waited to come or go. Don't worry about this part of the trip.

Greenhopster, How did Cozumel look? I am getting conflicting reports of the post hurricane condition. Someone posted that the island still looked like a bomb was dropped on it in May, and this past Jan, I said the same thing. How was the cruise? What excursion did you do on Cozumel? This last visit we did Passion Island and it was wasted, another poster said they just came back from there and did the same and Passion Island looked good again.

Recent months have brought showers to Cozumel which means the island as a whole is looking much greener again. Most people would be hard-pushed to know a hurricane had even passed last year.

Of course, when arriving by cruise ship the first things you see are the piers, which are still being repaired, but after that you will see very little damage anywhere and the island is in great shape.

I may be biased as I live in Cozumel and promote businesses here, but honestly, I've spoken with returning tourists and many say the island is better than ever now.
