Princess Cays bungalows

We are leaning towards getting a cabana when the Ruby Princess docks at Princess Cays in late March. I've read some posts on this both pro and con, but most are somewhat dated. Some of the posts have stated that the bathrooms are quite a hike from the cabana's, but they were thinking of building new ones. Does anyone have any up to date info on this, or a pro or con review on the value of getting one of these and splitting it between a few couples? Thanks in advance, we are so excited for our first cruise!!

Hi Amra, yes the cabanas are a bit of a walk to the restrooms, but the area is not that huge. Personally, I can find enough shade that a cabana would not be worth the extra money. That is totally your call, however. A friend of mine wouldn't go ashore without one. I hope you enjoy the Ruby and Princess cruise lines. They are our favorite line, so far. The Ruby is beautiful. Just remember cruising is addictive. I get just as excited, if not more, each time we go. Have a wonderful time!

We'll be at Princess Cays in March. For $24 you can reserve a clamshell, which comes with 2 lounge chairs rather than get the cabana. Who knows what a clamshell is? Does it provide shade?

A clamshell is a canvas half-dom-ish sun shade that rests in the sand and will cover two beach lounges - they're called clamshells because that's what they look like - a half of a clamshell. Well worth the money for a clamshell - not too sure about a cabana. That depends on whether you will be spending more time inside than outside.....
