Hello
Well as I told you in a past post the port of Mayaguez will be the “New Cruise Port” of Puerto Rico. They will be administrated by Holland Group in the near future that’s already negotiated and they are starting to develop the area for cruise ships.

Until today the only company that has been making approaches to the government is Holland American line. They actually have a few itineraries in Travelocity that includes Mayaguez as a port of call already.

Ok here is the info many people are talking in Mayaguez, off the record:
Holland is planning to lunch Mayaguez as one of the new ports of call of the company; they are looking to diversify their routes since the other cruise lines already have Old San Juan port as a port of call. Holland group will make as the said in the newspapers in Puerto Rico”, I will translate since they are in Spanish:
“Holland Group will develop a port so they can make efforts in order to capture new cruise lines companies and make Mayaguez port a new tourism option in the future”
You know that Holland American line is an owned subsidiary of Carnival so for all I Know this can be also the new port for a few Carnival Cruise ships that, as for now, can’t “Park” on Old San Juan port.
So in the near future you will have a new option to see the real Puerto Rico…
