I was wondering when climbing the Dunns River Fall should you wear Gyms shoes calimbing the falls or should you wear the rubber swim shoes it does not seem that the rubber swim shoes will give you the extra support that a gym show will. Will gym shoes be okay if you don't mind getting them wet?????

In a pinch they would be ok but when they get wet the become extremely heavy and are more likely to fall off. I prefer the water shoes, they won't fall off and your able to "feel your footing", makes it less likely that you'll slip. You can pick them up for less than $10, and they work great for snorkeling, stingrays etc...

Both types of shoes should work just fine. You just need something on your feet.

we did dunns river falls in dec 05 we used water shoes. we saw people wearing sneakers and they complained. also you will get sand & littles pebbles in your shoes, with water shoes all you do is slip them off & on. sneakers you have to untie & tie.

I was just there three weeks ago and we were required to wear water shoes. People that didn't have them needed to rent them. It was a great experience.

yes, the water shoes are better. We had brought ours because we planned on doing snorkling in other ports. The gym shoes might not offer the same grip as water shoes would. With the water shoes your foot can flex around the rocks and provide more surface area fro traction vs gym shoes.

Bring your own. You can rent them there, but if you have your own you can use them at any port.

The falls are nice, but don't believe the descriptions on the excursions. Ours said you could enjoy the beauty as you climb at your own pace... bull... you are joined hand to hand in a long konga line and are pushed and pulled up the falls. Don't get me wrong.. its still way cool, but its not quite what we expected.
