Car rental in San Juan

Hi everyone,

What are your thoughts on driving in San Juan? I need advice from someone with experience before we decide. We have rented a jeep in Cozumel and had a great time if this helps with knowing our "comfort level" about driving. Any info/stories/advice would be much appreciated.

Driving in San Juan is like driving in any big city. It can frazzle your nerves.

Look at this You Tube video to get an idea. Also look at the others on the right side of the screen. Especially the one for driving in Old San Juan.

What about driving outside the city? We are interested in exploring the countryside of Puerto Rico, anybody have information on doing this. We are staying on Candado Beach the night before our cruise, I wonder how difficult it is to get from there to the country. We will take a cab to Old San Juan, not drive. Thanks again !

Well I am from Puerto Rico actually from Mayaguez on the west side of the island and to be true is a little crazy driving on the island.
Most of the time you will need patience and be carefull specially from those MORONS that try to drive and talk on there cellphone at the same time,
PEOPLE OF PR THERE ARE BLUETOOTH HEADSETS YOU KNOW!!
For me the craziest place to drive on the island is San Juan, the people there are always late, there is no courtesy at all, is a shame because I am from Puerto Rico, but if you are going to stay close to San Juan is way better to get a taxi.
