I will be docking at Calica March 4th, but going straight to Playa del Carmen. We've decided to find our own excursion once we get there b/c we don't want something that lasts all day. We want time to lie on the beach, shop, and goof around. Thinking about parasailing or tubing (something that doesn't take very long). Can you basically walk down the beach and find someone willing to take you out for a while? Or does anyone know of any private excursion companies that can cater to what you need (without costing mucho dinero).
Also, b/c we only have a certain amount of time in PDC, what's the fastest way to get off the ship when disembarking at your port (Calica)? Especially if you don't book an excursion from Carnival. Any guestimations on waiting times?
Along with this, what is self-assist debarkation???
If the ship leaves the port at 5pm, what time do you generally have to be on board? I've heard 3:30pm, is this correct? Ship time or port time? (So confusing)
And finally, can you bring your own drinks, beers, etc., to the beaches in PDC?
wooooo! thanks for any info you can help me out with.
The ship will dock in Calica and as soon as it is cleared by the Mexican Government, you will be able to debark the ship. There will be a line of taxis waiting to take you whereever you want to go. Playa Del Carmen is about 15 minutes away and you can wander the streets shopping, hit the beaches and generally have a great time. You can make all of your arrangements when you get there.
The time that you are to be back on the ship will be posted both in your daily newsletter and as you check off the ship. It is usually 1/2 hour before departure.
Self Assist debarkation is when you carry your own luggage off the ship. You can request it from the registration desk and you are usually one of the first groups to debark. Debarkation is more about the luggage than the passengers which is why they do it using the color bag tag system. If you take responsibility for carrying your own luggage, you get priority debarkation.
