Hi, looking for any recommendations for excursions or places we should seek-out ourselves when we go on our cruise next week.
We have already booked the Boss underwater thing in St. Thomas, has anyone done that? All suggestions (best beaches, food, shopping etc.) greatly appreciated. Thanks. http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo.../icon_cool.gif

My husband did the BOSS in St. Martin and in St. Thomas on two different cruises. I tried it but I was too claustrophobic to do it. He loved it, though. It's like a little scooter with a bubble helmet above. You go under the water and come up into the helmet (they give you about a half hour of training in a room first). Then the guide takes maybe 6 or 8 of you down at a time, leading you along and pointing out coral, watching fish go right by your face, etc.

There is a lot of shopping in St. Thomas as well, my only suggestion being that if you're looking for something in particular, be it perfume, jewelry, electronics, etc., know what you can get it for at home before buying it in the islands.

In San Juan, a trip to El Moro fort is always interesting as part of your day.

We were at a pier that was not a difficult walk to El Morro and did that. We enjoyed it completely! It is uphill to get there, and obviously downhill to get back to the ship, with pretty and old buildings along the way to be seen and photo'd. If you don't want that much walking take a cab there and walk back the downhill leg.

Loved going from St. Thomas to St. John on our own and hanging out at trunk bay. Also on St. Martin took a cab to Orient beach on our own. It was a relaxing day. If you photo there check who's walking into the frame before you shoot. (see the thread on this site about nudity on the beach!)

Our family considers the trip to St. John (via Carnival's excursion) one of our best vacation days ever. Great boat, great crew, rum punch, Trunk Bay, it was well worth every penny. No worries about being late getting back to the cruise ship...just an all aroud great day. We also took a cab to the pirate's museum and truly enjoyed it also. Well preserved, good tour guides, GREAT views. Wished we had more time there. Hope this helps.
