This isn't our first cruise but it is our first to Southern Caribbean. Any suggestions about shore excursions would be greatly appreciated. We will be visiting Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Maarten, and St. Croix.
Thanks!

It would be helpful if you could let us know what you like to do on excursions. You can tour these islands in a relaxing fashion or in a strenuous one, or just see the high spots and spend the rest of the time on a sandy beach.

I've always liked the Harrison Caves in Barbados. There are some nice forts to see on Antiqua, St. Maarten you have the French and Dutch sides for sighseeing (did I say nudie beach?)...St. Lucia is a great van ride or deep sea fishing.....you can't go wrong no matter what you decide to do:-)...Happy Sailing...

Yes I suppose it would have been helpful to tell you a little about our interests. We are 50 and active but don't want to run a marathon. We will also have our 21 year old son with us so snorkeling, boating, etc. are of interest. We've recently been to NY, DC and Europe so we are museumed out! We love nature so rain forests, waterfalls and wildlife are all welcome. Hope this helps. Thanks

Thanks, that helps to know what you enjoy.

Barbados-Tiami Catamaran sail/snorkel. Their cats are immaculate, the crews have been great, they take you to snorkel with the turtles and then to a nice beach break for rum punch. The Folkstone Underwater Marine Park is a nice snorkel, too. There are the salt mines and if you like spicy food, try the Bajan pepper sauce. It's hot but wonderful.

St. Lucia-pitons snorkel, Pigeon Island, or a "best of" tour.

Antigua-go outside of the terminal and negotiate with one of the drivers. We found one that took us to Shirley Heights, the harbour, and a nice beach with a restaurant/bar for $25/pp. There are 365 beaches, so you really can't go wrong. We did a snorkeling excursion once, but couldn't enjoy it for all the jelly fish in the water. Might have been the wrong time of year.

St. Maarten-Maho Beach, Orient Beach, Marigot, shopping, or take the water taxi to the beach near the port. We did the TikiHut snorkel the last time we were there and it was a great excursion.

Hope this helps some.

If you like hiking, try this outfit on St. Lucia....we did the advanced Rainforest Hike. It was a long day and included a tour of the island - had a great time.

On Barbados we did the catamaran cruise on Silver Moon because they offer a much less crowded boat if you want to pay a little more, but I hear good things about all of the cat cruises.

Antigua was difficult for us to find something active, but we settled on this outfit. It wasn't spectacular but we had a good time. Nice beaches are everywhere.
