You don't need to spent a lot of money to see Alaska. Here is our detailed Alaska Cruise review aboard the Star Princess...

Just returned from doing 2 back to back inside passage cruises in Alaska and agree, that you can certainly see much of Alaska on a budget. I am in the process of writing mega-reviews of my experience. I know the Alaska cruise season is almost over, but if anyone is already planning for next year will be happy to entertain questions.

Here are some examples. The salmon fishing shore excursion on the ship in Ketchikan was $179. Guys that went on it basically trolled for salmon and picked up a couple of small fish.

One of the guys in our group rented a rod and reel for $2 hr and purchased a one-day fishing license for $10. He fished from the Ketchikan Creek bridge. He caught and released 9 beautiful salmon in about 40 minutes. He returned the rod and reel for a total cost of $2. He had a great time.

The city bus in Juneau stops short of the Mendenhall Glacier park by about 1/2 mile. Total cost to get to the glacier is $.50 each way. You can also take one of the Mendenhall Express transfers for $5 each way, if you don't want to walk the 1/2 mile.

Enjoy!

Tom
