I was there in November and I can describe it in one word...Paradise! The most beautiful water I have ever seen. Rent a clam shell if you do not want to bake in the sun. You have to do this on the ship and they rent out fast. The BBQ is free but there will be waiters coming around with buckets of beer or what ever you wish. You will charge it to your sign and sail card. While you relax in your clamshell you will have the most beautiful view of the gorgeous water with your ship in the background. It is a picture postcard! I cannot wait to visit this gorgeous island again.

Someone on this chat site (many months ago) described it as a large bath tub. The poster did not like HMC. It is true that the water is calm and warm but it is a place of relaxation not a place to surf. And the water really is turquoise. Get on the beach as early in the day as you can. I find it too hot by midday so I retreat to the ship for lunch and spend the afternoon on deck.
If the sea is too rough you will not get to go ashore.

One word.... PARADISE ! ! !

This is by far our favorite cruise ship island in the Caribbean, we've seen them all.

We went to Half Moon as part of our first cruise 4 years ago, it remains my favorite port. I am soooo excited this year we are booked on 2 back to back cruises to the Caribbean on the Emerald Princess and we will be going to Half Moon twice. Now that's a vacation.

For something truly special, you can book a Private Cabana, complete with soft drinks, light snacks, fan, air conditioning, indoor table/chairs, and priority tendering. All this for about $250 total for up to 4 people. Butler service, along with other amenities, is available for another $270 (I think). I haven't experienced this myself, although I have heard good reports on it.
