We are flying in from California (long haul) and are going to stay a day to cure jet lag before getting on the Carnival Destiny. I heard there are more than one port so to pick a hotel I need to know where Carnival parks the buggy? Is it next to the Shertan? Also is the Milano a good hotel if anyone knows?

The ships dock in Old San Juan which is about a twenty minute ride from the airport.
If you want to be near the airport, try Isla Verde for your hotel. To be in the old city is a special treat and you will be very near the cruise ships. El Convento hotel is very popular but I have not stayed there.
Thanks Ken Chef I made a note and will go in and check these out. The Milano also is in old San Juan not far from the Shertan. IslandCruz from what I see near the port is the Shertan could this be the Windham? Hope someone answers that question as I am searching all hotels near the ship. Non Smoking in PR...interesting

Here is a map that will help you see where places and hotels are around the pier area. If you click on the name of the hotel, you will have a link to their website.

Thank you. I do go a lot to another forum and have found a wealth of info there. It is great to share. Speaking of that, here is a really good map of OSJ that you might enjoy.

Carnival docks at the foot of Old San Juan. Some RCI ships dock over at the Pan Am pier, especially those whose cruises start and end there. Here is a calendar that tells what piers the ships dock at.
Glad you liked my pictures. We had fun going to all of those places!
