For private tours of Belize try http//www.coralbreezelimited.com they offer several different tours such as Snorkling, Shark Ray alley snorkle (which I did) A day at the beach, Altun Ha Mayan ruins etc. Company is American owned but run by locals, very fun and professional staff I highly reccomend them.

OK, I am not trying to sway anyone from going to Belize or being afraid to get off the ship while you are there, but I do believe you need to use extra caution while there and use only the ships or another very reputable companies excursions. Last winter in our local paper was an article about a group of cruise ship passengers that ventured off with a local taxi driver, taken into the jungle and murdered! The article then went on to say what a dangerous place this is and to exercise EXTREME caution when traveling there. I have heard wonderful things about the beauty of Belize and hope to go there on one of our future cruises, but I will only book an excursion with the ship just for a bit of extra saftey.
