Our Victory cruise out of San Juan is coming up soon. We have never been to most of the ports we will be visiting and I wanted to see if anyone had suggestions on "good things" to do.
We are big beach/snorkelers. SO anything along those lines is good, but we also considered zip line tours as we have never tried that. We are not big on the ATV tours...
We are visiting San Juan, St Thomas (we have both of these covered because we have been there a couple of times each) The new ports for us are
Dominica - Thinking of catching a cab to take us to Champagne Reef assuming we can get to the reef from the beach and don't need a boat to get there. Any other thoughts/ideas for Dominica?
Barbados - We book the sea turtle and shipwreck snorkel tour. But that should be done early enough to do something else there...
St Lucia - No clue. The bulk of the tours seem to require about 3 hours of driving... but I'm not sure what else there is to do there. Pigeon State Beach was recommended.
Antigua - Runaway Bay or Dickinson Bay for beach going was discussed. We also are considering the Pirate Adventure on the Black Swan- has anyone done this and have an opinion on it?
St Kitts- Another one where we are not sure what to do.

Jim, when we went to St. Kitts we took a train ride around the island. We really enjoyed it. The children would come out and wave to us and that was fun. There were island singers on the train who entertained us. It was just a fun trip.
As far as beach things to do there, I don't have a clue. Sorry!
Our trip was five years ago and I don't know if the same things are offered now or not. But, on St. Lucia, we took a catamaran/bus tour. The catamaran stopped in a cove and most people snorkeled. We drank rum punch instead!
The bus tour took us to the volcano and to other sites. Lunch was included and it was delicious.
Both tours were booked from the ship. We were on the Celebrity Summit.
Dominica - Thinking of catching a cab to take us to Champagne Reef assuming we can get to the reef from the beach and don't need a boat to get there.
You can get to the shore area to snorkel by taxi. I don't recommend it though. It is very rocky, and not the best option in my opinion. I would take a snorkel tour via boat. The snorkeling is amazing!
I agree, Dwayne. Ron wanted to kill me after our first visit to Dominica. I had "researched" and decided we'd do Champagne Reef and Trafalga Falls/Emerald Pool on our own. We had a great taxi driver who did take us and pick us up as promised, however, I was not prepared for that walk or getting beaten against the boulders trying to get into the water. Trust me, I heard about that for weeks.
Previously on St. Kitts we did a kayacking tour on the ocean, which included some so-so snorkling, but the scenery was very good. It's not your top quality beach island. I'd take in the scenery on St. Lucia somehow, even though all the driving involves a lot of up and down. You can't to wrong on Antigua....all the beaches are supposedly excellent, and there are over 300 to choose from.
Thanks all! I used your information and booked a couple of tours. I am also trying to decide what to do still for the ports I have not booked anything.

Well, my issue is not being able to find a boat tour to snorkeling on champagne reef! At least the cruise line tours don't offer it. I have found a couple of tour operators online, and I will have pick one of those.

Dang, I can't believe that. We've booked 3 excursions through Princess, though. I wish I could remember some of the boats I saw around there. If you want, try it from the beach. Y'all are a whole lot younger than we are, so maybe the rocks won't be a big deal for you. They just beat us up pretty good Ron still hasn't let me forget about it
They have two listed in the shore excursion book, and now none online. I wonder why they stopped offering them. Mine was canceled the last time, so they took us with the divers to snorkel. I don't even see the Dive one listed either. I saw one at Shoretrips. Good luck, it's getting close!
