We are booked on the Allure in December. Flying from Buffalo can be dicey at that time of year so we are flying in a day early. Just wondering about experiences or suggestions with the different hotels in Fort Lauderdale.

We stayed at the Sleep Inn in Dania. They offer a shuttle from the airport and to the pier. There is a free breakfast offered at the hotel. There is a Walgreen's right next door - we purchased our toothpaste, deodorant etc there instead of carrying it on the plane. There is a strip mall across the street with a Publix grocery store, a dollar store and three restaurants (we had excellant Cuban / Mexican dinner there). It was less expensive than staying close to the pier. The rooms were clean, the staff extremely helpful. I would definitely stay there again if we sail from Ft Lauderdale again. Enjoy your cruise.

We've stayed at the Renaissance, Pier 66, Sheraton Yankee Clipper, TropiRock, Sea Club, Westin, and this time the Sheraton North Beach. The Renaissance and Pier 66 are directly across from the port. Room rate is around 190/night. The TropiRock, Sea Club, Westin, and Sheraton Yankee Clipper are about 5-6 miles from the port. None of them offered shuttle service, but the cab fare was very reasonable. We drive now, so it really doesn't matter to us anymore. There have been many positive reviews about the Sleep Inn in Dania. We've been by there, but have not stayed there. It's a very clean looking property.

I hope you'll let us know how the Allure was when you return. We really enjoyed the Solstice.
