San Juan -- Been There, Done That Q

I'll be going to San Juan for my fourth time, and have pretty much done all the standard cruise excursions by now.

Anyone have a recommendation for something to do on my own? A great beach? A great hotel where I can be a day guest? Anything off the beaten track?

I met a lady on a cruise that lived in Puerto Rico, she said that the locals went to Ponce. It's on the other side of the island from San Juan. Don't know how long you're going to be there, but you might want to check it out. You might check into a jaunt to St. Croix, it's a pretty little island about 45 minutes away by air (puddle jumper). I've not been to Culebra, but have heard great things about it. It's great for snorkeling and white sand beaches. I think you'd have to fly there as well. If you haven't done the Bacardi factory, it's a good tour as well. Hope this helps!

When in San Juan, try the Caribe Hilton Resort Hotel. You can just walk in and enjoy the grounds. They even have peacocks walking around. The hotel is in old San Juan.

The Caribe Hilton Hotel - How far away from port is the Hotel? There's no Charge for using the pool?

I could see the port from my 10th floor room when I stayed there. It's a 5 minute taxi ride. The entrance is open so you can just walk in like a guest and enjoy.
